WASH Education Program

Since 2009, MSABI has been performing community WASH education programs within the Kilombero Valley. We focus on reaching disadvantaged, underserved and remote communities. We target additional attention to sensitizing school children and providing a comfortable and private forum for women to participate in WASH discussions.

Our integrated education program incorporates different formats tailored to the respective target group. The program is the result of our combined field experiences and lessons learnt from other leading practitioners. Participatory community meetings, mobilization meetings and Wow visits are used to raise community awareness and mobilize communities towards the adoption of improved WASH products and solutions. Drama performances and WASH clubs are mainly used to sensitize communities and school children on the importance of improved hygiene behaviour.

MSABI education teams have reached more than 450,000 people through school and community education activities across Kilombero, Ulanga, Malinyi and Kilosa District. Our experience to date confirms the value of an integrated education program with multiple activities aimed at a broad geographic and social coverage.
